Dartmouth Founders Gift Shop Opens
The Dartmouth Founders Gift Shop will promote products launched by Dartmouth entrepreneurs, with unique discounts for the Dartmouth community.
The Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship is helping make holiday shopping easier, by launching the Dartmouth Founders Gift Shop. The shop features businesses and products launched by Dartmouth students and alumni. Although it is up in time for the holidays, the gift shop will remain open indefinitely as a way to support Dartmouth entrepreneurs.
"The goal of the gift shop is to showcase Dartmouth startups and business products in a fun way, and to support them by potentially driving them customers from our community,” says Lidia Schoonenberg D’14, Th’15, Program Manager for Startup Support at The Magnuson Center.
The shop launched with 21 businesses. Each has a tie to the Dartmouth community, from True North Books, a Hanover favorite founded by Allie Levy ’11, to Balloon, a software that encourages collaboration and innovation, founded by Amanda Greenberg ’07. Many of the businesses offer discounts of up to 50% to Dartmouth community members.
The businesses include traditional gift items, like jewelry and art; every day essentials like sustainably-sourced pet food or utensils; and niche items including a water bottle for surfers, a product for organizing construction PPE, and a motorcycle conversion kit.
Although the shop is up and running, the Magnuson Center is still looking for more products and services to be featured. Anyone interested in participating in the shop should fill out this form. Diverse founders and female founders are particularly encouraged to participate, and take advantage of promotion to the Magnuson Center’s virtual community of more than 10,000 people.
“This is launching in time for the holidays, but will live on,” Schoonenberg says. “We would welcome submissions at any time.”
