Venture Capital Workshop

The Dartmouth Undergraduate Early Stage Venture Capital Workshops and the annual Internal Dartmouth VCIC Competition, sponsored by the Magnuson Student Leadership Board and Moosilauke Student Ventures, are an incredible way to gain experience, connections, and build your resume.

Think like a venture capitalist  by learning how to analyze startups, interview founders, ask the right questions, and create strong investment strategies. Kick off the workshops with engaging lessons taught by Jim Feuille D’79, Adjunct Professor and Faculty Advisor, Private Equity and Venture Capital at the Tuck School of Business, and apply this knowledge by negotiating deals with real startups seeking investments. The workshops will occur over the course of the fall term. It is expected that lectures and accompanying assignments will be a ~3 hours/week commitment.

For those who are interested, there will be a Dartmouth internal Venture Capital Investment Competition at the end of fall term. Workshop participants will have the choice to create teams of six to compete in a mock-up competition in the style of the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC). More information about team selection and exact internal competition dates will be provided by early October.

Based on both individual and team performances during this Dartmouth Internal Venture Capital Investment Competition, six participants will be selected to form the Dartmouth Undergraduate VCIC Team. This Undergraduate VCIC Team will represent Dartmouth and compete in the Undergraduate Venture Capital Investment Competition in the 2027 winter term. This Dartmouth Undergraduate VCIC Team will compete with other undergraduate teams as mock venture capitalists where they will analyze real startups and create investment strategies. Among other criteria, VCIC teams are judged by how well they defend their choice of startup, describe their due diligence review, and determine the valuation and terms that they as mock venture capitalists will offer their chosen startup.

NOTE: Workshop Times will be confirmed in early September.

The first workshop is on Wednesday, 9/23/2026 at 6:45PM - 8:45PM. Workshops will continue weekly on Wednesdays through 11/11/2026. The Dartmouth VCIC Internal Competition will be all day Saturday, 11/14/2026.
