If you are a startup founder and a member of the Dartmouth community (student, faculty, staff, or alumni), the Venture Studio is here to help.

Our dedicated team can provide you with professional guidance and connect you with workshops, startup mentorship, and other opportunities to help you make progress.

Startup Mentor Network

The Startup Mentor Network allows founders in the Dartmouth community to find information & resources and participate in a variety of programs with entrepreneurial alumni mentors.

Benefits of the Startup Mentor Network:

  • Register your startup for startup support and access to special programs

  • Find a variety of resources for your venture with the Startup Roadmap and the Startup Opportunities calendar

  • Schedule office hours with Magnuson staff and EIRs

GRANTS

The Founder Grant

Cash for on-campus startups.

The Founder Grant facilitates the start and development of Dartmouth-founded ideas. Awards up to $5,000 to an individual or team that demonstrates entrepreneurial plans, solid background research of the idea or initial traction, and high commitment to learning and executing their ideas.

SBIR/STTR Proposal Assistance Grant

Support for your SBIR/STTR proposal

The Magnuson Center will fund up to 25 hours of support (coaching, writing, project management) for your SBIR/STTR funding proposal to help improve your chances for success.

Wily Initiatives Grant

Stipends for unpaid interns at start-ups.

The Wily Initiatives Grant provides up to $4,500 in financial assistance for internship opportunities that enable undergraduates to gain exposure and work experience at early-stage technology-based startups.

Office Hours

If you are a startup founder looking for support, sign up for office hours with a staff member or Entrepreneur in Residence.

Services we can provide:

Startup Law Office Hours

Experts from the Vermont Small Business Law Center at Vermont Law School regularly host in-person office hours on campus. Discuss the legal questions you have about your new venture.

Sign ups will be available in Spring 2025.

Magnuson Center Startup Weekend

Our entry-level entrepreneurship program takes place each fall term. Open to all Dartmouth students, we provide a weekend-long course on taking an idea from start to pitch.

Venture Studio Startups

Are you committed to your venture and looking to make consistent progress while building community with other startup founders on campus? We provide targeted resources and benefits to founders invited to Venture Studio cohorts.

Dartmouth I-Corp

Dartmouth's NSF I-Corps Site Program offers grants (up to $3000 for exploring commercialization and prototyping) and education to explore commercialization of a technology developed through Dartmouth academic research or experience-based learning programs.

Open to teams with at least one member who is a current enrolled student (or recent graduate), post-doctoral fellow, faculty member, researcher, or staff member.
