Wily Initiatives Fund Internship Grant

The purpose of the Wily Initiatives Fund Internship Grant is to provide up to $4500 financial assistance for an internship that enables undergraduates to gain exposure and work experience in an early-stage technology-focused startup company during terms away from campus.

 

Qualifications

Applicant:

  • Currently enrolled Dartmouth undergraduate at the time of application
  • Have an offer to work during a subsequent off-term
  • In good academic standing
  • No honor code violations

Internship & Startup:

  • Early-stage tech-focused startup
  • Under 3 years of existence
  • Under $100K in revenue
  • Under $250k funding
  • The internship does not need to be a technical role, but the startup itself should be technology focused

Note: Preference is given to Dartmouth-related startups. Award decisions and amounts are based on the terms (duration, expectations, etc) of the internship. In addition to Handshake, check the new DEN Job Board for potential startup internship opportunities.

Dates

Spring 25:

  • Applications will open on Monday, April 28, 2025.
  • Applications will close on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 11:59pm ET.
  • If selected for an interview, you will receive an email notification by eod Friday, May 16.
  • Applicants will be notified of final decisions by eod Friday, May 30.

Fall 25:

  • Dates to be updated here prior to start of the Fall 25 term.

 

Important Notes:

  • All recipients must provide any necessary information or documentation within one month of award notification or any and all monies awarded will be forfeited. If receiving an award, checks must be deposited within 90 days to avoid loss of funds. Checks will not be reissued.
  • International students in F-1 or J-1 status are limited in terms of the types of employment activities they may engage in while a student at Dartmouth. International students who wish to participate should consult with their OVIS advisor before accepting any offer of employment, including a paid or unpaid internship, to determine whether the proposed activity is permissible under the F-1 or J-1 rules.
  • All taxes are the responsibility of the award recipient.
  • Grant recipients are required to submit a one-page summary of the impact the internship experience has on their academic career and future career aspirations.
  • Employers: Please note that an unpaid internship is not just free labor! These grants are for internships that provide an educational experience in an early-stage tech startup environment.
